The Golden State has adopted a slew of climate change laws over the past twenty years, and an even greater number of regulations. 2011 CARB adopted cap and trade system. 2023 SB 253. California seems to have conceived of its role as alternatively a backup for weak federal regulation or a model for future federal action.

To date in 2023, the United States has already suffered nine climate and weather disasters resulting in at least a billion dollars of damage, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. A decade ago, a review of nearly 12,000 studies conducted between 1991 and 2011 found that 97.2 This doesn’t make anybody cough.

Germany agrees on EU regulation to make cars carbon neutral by 2035 (either zero emissions or net-zero). Renewable Energy Act sets fixed feed-in tariffs and gives renewables priority on the grid. New rates are large enough to spark expansion of renewable industry. Fifteen percent of electricity is renewable.

The regulations were amended in 2020 to include a program for existing generation units, CES-E, which has several distinct requirements. Increasing the CES-E stringency from 20% to 25% of 2018 retail sales starting in 2023. These changes will set the CES standard at 60% in 2030 and 80% in 2050.

On April 7, 2023 , DEP posted an inspection report to document that it had requested Greylock to provide the pre-drill survey it had conducted prior to drilling the wells in 2011, along with all the water sample results associated with the site. [ There were two shale gas wells on Mohr B drilled in March of 2009 and May of 2011.
