Based on my current understanding of the information in the proposal, it appears that the total amount of fuels made from oils and fats is projected to peak in 2025 and then to hover at roughly 2 billion gallons a year thereafter [i]. A non-binding RFS is not a stable long-term situation, for both economic and political reasons.

In 2025, the reduction is slated to be increased to 6.5%. In early 2022, a revised plan was submitted, which DWR approved with a few recommendations for future corrections. Pumping reductions of 5% of current pumping finally started in 2023 in the most severely impacted parts of the Valley.
