It’s also urgent because the oceans act like a flywheel, making sure that cuts in emission of greenhouse gases will have a lagged effect on global warming. Climate change adaptation was addressed in the Paris Agreement from 2015, the Climate Adaptation Summit in January 2021 , and will be one of four key priorities during the upcoming COP26.

In my opinion the press conference on 9 August 2021 didn’t do justice to the vast effort that went into it. There is no doubt that we have changed Earth’s climate through our activities on a broad range of aspects that includes consequences for the atmosphere, the oceans, snow, ice, Earth’s fauna and ecosystems.

That seems like a plausible scenario under climate change but seemingly hasn’t been established yet. Chicago has long fascinated environmental historians.

Presumably Dagsvik and Moen are used to this kind of model, but they seem to be inexperienced with the models used for weather and climate, which on the other hand are based on the laws of physics. Furthermore, the volume of the oceans increases from the melting of land ice.
