Essentially, the materials recovered through battery recycling can replace future material supply that would otherwise need to be extracted from the earth to meet demand. Estimates show that in 2050, the United States can meet about half of EV demand for cobalt and nickel and a quarter of lithium with minerals recovered through recycling.

Since Pennsylvania Resources Council launched a partnership with the City of Pittsburgh in May 2022, more than 2,800 city residents have dropped off materials through the City’s hard-to-recycle program. Appropriate recycling of these items provides many benefits. Advance registration is required for all collection events.

Texas lawmakers commissioned the Produced Water Consortium last year to examine how produced water could be recycled into local water supplies. The leader of the research consortium said that the amount is so great that it would be logistically difficult, expensive, and environmentally dangerous to recycle it all.

The Department of Environmental Protection published notice in the April 13 PA Bulletin that Eyoyo is prohibited from selling its products in Pennsylvania as a result of its violation of the state electronics waste recycling law. ( Manufacturers must also pay an annual registration fee and submit a recycling plan and annual report.
