Circuit Ruled that EPA Must Consider Endangered Species in Setting Renewable Fuel Standards. Circuit Court of Appeals sent the 2018 Renewable Fuel Standards rule back to EPA after finding that EPA failed to comply with requirements of the Endangered Species Act.

The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals reversed a district court decision that vacated the listing of the Arctic ringed seal as threatened under the Endangered Species Act (ESA). The decision also addressed a number of non-climate change claims under NEPA, the Endangered Species Act, CEQA, and other state law.

In 2015, the Obama administration announced that it would ban chlorpyrifos, but former EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt reversed that decision in 2017. Additionally, USFWS is proposing listing Texas fawnsfoot ( Truncilla macrodon ) as a threatened species. The agency attributes the species status to declining water quality and quantity.
