A "zombie virus" is being studied from Siberian permafrost

In November 2022, researchers from France, Germany and Russia announced that they had reanimated one such virus. European Researchers warned that climate change could reanimate frozen "zombie viruses" and expose humans to lethal diseases. The virus they brought back to life had been frozen for more than 50,000 years.

Service Lists Northern Long-eared Bat as Endangered

On November 30, 2022, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) issued a final rule listing the northern long-eared bat (NLEB) ( Myotis septentrionalis ) as an endangered species under Section 4 of the Endangered Species Act (ESA), reclassifying it from its former threatened status and rescinding its section 4(d) rule.
