During the four days of emergency operations during the cold snap, from early February 15th to midnight February 18th, output levels of nuclear, natural gas, coal, and wind to the grid were 79.3 What both states needed to avoid blackouts was more power from reliable, firm, “baseload” power plants, not weather-dependent ones.
