In 2019, after my article for Forbes upon which the Amazon chapter in Apocalypse Never is based, Nepstad complained to Mongabay , an activist web site, and again to Kasprak, that I didn’t write about the risk of deforestation leading to “savanification,” which is the transformation of rainforest into a savanna. The question is how.
