The partial exemption petition process was created by a 2003 rulemaking for the Inventory Update Rule, the predecessor to the CDR Rule. The directive requires the Department of Technology, Management and Budget to take actions to ensure that proposals from potential suppliers disclose whether products contain intentionally added PFAS.
