On this day in 1990, a new era was ushered in for EPA and the nation when the Pollution Prevention (P2) Act was signed into law. The act gave the agency new tools to join with states, tribes, and communities to prevent pollution before it happens.

In addition, the infrastructure law provides $100 million for the Pollution Prevention Act grants to states for programs to promote businesses’ use of source reduction techniques. Using a formula set forth in the 2018 TSCA Fees Rule, EPA calculated a fee increase of 18.9% over the fees set in the 2018 rule.
