We have direct AMOC measurements only since 2004, a time span too short for this type of study. Not in summer when the ocean is covered by a shallow surface mixed layer heated by the sun and highly dependent on weather conditions.) I’ve seen two main arguments there. Do the data used really describe changes in AMOC? It looks like this.
