The US government therefore has a vested interest in keeping the COFA agreements alive and maintaining good relationships with these countries. The RMI compact was renewed in 2003, and now all three Compacts are up for renewal: the Compacts with Micronesia and the Marshall Islands will expire Oct 2023, and Palau’s will expire in 2024.
