A new dataset released by InfluenceMap provides information on heat-trapping emissions traced to the 122 largest investor and state-owned fossil fuel companies in the world. Fossil fuels are the main driver of climate change and the terrifying effects of it that we see happening across the world.

Being the predicted outcome of burning fossil fuels, our best and only plan to limit warming is to reduce CO 2 emissions from human activities to ‘net zero’ – where the amount of CO 2 we emit into the atmosphere is equal to the amount we remove from it. Sea level rise has caused saltwater to intrude into the islands’ soil, such that areas previously used for traditional gardening can no longer be cultivated. The complaint argues these violations stem from insufficient climate mitigation targets, as well as a general failure to cease to promote fossil fuel extraction and use.
