Thanks in large measure to natural gas replacing coal, the International Energy Agency (IEA) forecasts carbon emissions in 2040 to be lower than in almost all of the IPCC scenarios. Finally, the premature closure of nuclear power plants, often in the name of fighting climate change, results in greater air pollution.
