Humankind just had to stop using coal and natural gas and replace them by solar PV. Both solar PV and wind are now cost competitive with fossil fuels. Deforestation has to be put to an end and we need to reforest and afforest globally. This in turn brings us all naturally to how we feed ourselves.

In fact, both Environmental Progress’ web site and the central argument of Apocalypse Never is that energy, environmental, and moral progress are united, e.g., that hydro-electric dams and coal are better than burning wood and dung, that natural gas is better than burning coal, and that nuclear is better than natural gas.

Leaders also announced a series of pacts to address aspects of climate change during the conference: Seven countries, led by Denmark and Costa Rica, joined the Beyond Oil and Gas Alliance, which pledges to end their use of fossil fuels.
