The Department of Environmental Protection invites comments on the proposed delisting of the Currie Landfill Site in Millcreek Township, Erie County from the state Priority List Of Hazardous Sites. ( PA Bulletin, page 2571 ) DEP has completed a remedial response at the Site and has determined that the actions taken are adequate to protect human health and the environment.

Brillouin microscopy speeds up by a factor of 1000

Researchers at the EMBL in Germany have dramatically reduced the time required to create images using Brillouin microscopy, making it possible to study the viscoelastic properties of biological samples far more quickly and with less damage than ever before. Their new technique can image samples with a field of view of roughly 10 000 pixels at a speed of 0.1 Hz – a 1000-fold improvement in speed and throughput compared to standard confocal techniques.

The Susquehanna River Basin Commission published notice in the March 29 PA Bulletin the Executive Director gave his approval to or renewed 50 general water use permits in February for individual shale gas well drilling pads in Bradford, Centre, Clearfield, Clinton, Lycoming, Potter, Susquehanna and Tioga counties.
