Because of its geography, Mexico is vulnerable to climate impacts.

I became an environmentalist at 16 when I threw a fundraiser for Rainforest Action Network. Mainstream journalists reported, repeatedly, that the Amazon was “the lungs of the world,” and that deforestation was like a nuclear bomb going off. At 26 I helped expose poor conditions at Nike factories in Asia.

The pipelines will run close to Dehing Patkai National Park, which encompasses the largest stretch of lowland rainforest in India and is home to multiple endangered species, including the western hoolock gibbon and white-winged duck, the state bird of Assam. Parallel to the replacement oil pipeline , a new natural gas pipeline is being laid.

The Washington Supreme Court concluded that the Washington Clean Air Act did not grant the Department of Ecology authority to regulate indirect greenhouse gas emissions of businesses and utilities whose products ultimately generate such emissions. The developer previously filed a lawsuit challenging a natural gas ban in the Town of Windsor.
