I distinctly remember the rotten egg smell of sulfur dioxide hanging over the Flats whenever we went downtown. It is mainly methane, which is 80 times more potent than carbon dioxide in trapping heat for the first 20 years after it is released. But nitrous oxide is even more insidiously efficient at disrupting the climate.
