Two weeks ago, the Zambezi River Authority ordered the operators of Kariba Dam to halt hydropower generation through at least January 2023, worsening electricity shortages in Zimbabwe and Zambia. It is projected to shrink more than 20 feet by the end of 2023, when the reservoir would be just 22 percent of capacity. Brett Walton.
