The giant floating offshore wind farm is projected to have a generating capacity of 1 gigawatt (GW) – enough to meet the electricity needs of 800,000 French homes. Construction is planned to begin in either 2026 or 2027. France currently has another 4 GW offshore wind under development.

They have government backing too, with heavy spending on recharging networks. BP will make a final investment decision on Teeside only in three years’ time and it doesn’t expect to start actual construction before 2027 – three years before all new cars in the UK are expected to be electric.
