Five Important Points About the “SAFE Vehicle Rule”

On Thursday, August 2, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) jointly issued the Safer Affordable Fuel-Efficient Vehicle Rule (SAFE Vehicle Rule). The SAFE Vehicle Rule proposes changes to EPA’s greenhouse gas emissions standards and DOT’s Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards for light duty vehicles in model years (MY) 2021 through 2025.

August 1, 2018. The General Assembly drafted six proposed amendments to the N.C. Constitution that will be on the November ballot for voter approval (or not). Two of the proposed amendments could affect environmental and natural resource policy. Appointments to boards and commissions. House Bill 913 (short title: Bipartisan Ethics and Elections Enforcement) proposes to amend the Constitution to give the General Assembly more power to appoint members to state boards and commissions.
