Wildebeest Cross Crocodile-Infested Water

As the wildebeest migration approaches the river, they know there is danger lurking in the water. Nile crocodiles move towards the herd’s crossing points at this time of year and wait for the big arrival.

TRANSCRIPT

- [Narrator] They know there is danger.

Many have made this crossing before.

(wildebeest mooing) Finally, one will leap.

(splash) (wildebeests mooing) Wildebeests are not the only herds that cross.

There is safety in numbers.

- The way they're piling together ready to move in the water, flashing, running, the noise.

That noise!

- You cheer them up when they cross over.

It's amazing.

You get emotions you can't control.

your tears rolling down, you find yourself crying.

- [Narrator] The crocodiles slide in, and pick off one victim at a time.

(wildebeests mooing) - If you see them taken down by the crocodiles, or drowning, you get a feeling of death.

You can't stop that adrenaline.

But that is how it is.

You realize that is something which needs to happen.

- [Narrator] Without the mass crossings, these ancient predators would struggle to survive.
