PennDOT, DEP Support Petition On Issuing A PUC Policy Statement On Electric Utility Rate Design For Electric Vehicle Charging

On April 11, the departments of Transportation and Environmental Protection wrote a joint letter to the Public Utility Commission supporting a rulemaking petition from ChargEVC-PA requesting the Commission to issue a Policy Statement on electric utility rate design for electric vehicle charging in PA. The PUC published a notice March 12 inviting initial comments on the petition by April 11.

Were you watching? On April 16, the first peregrine falcon egg hatched at the nest on the Rachel Carson Building in Harrisburg! There are four more eggs to go. Appropriately, the Rachel Carson Building, headquarters for DEP and DCNR, is named for Pennsylvania’s own Rachel Carson, the woman often credited with starting the modern environmental movement with her research and writing about pesticides in her landmark Silent Spring book.

DEP, Others Recommend Ways To Strengthen PUC Regulations On Natural Gas, Hazardous Liquids Pipeline Safety; Oil, Gas, Pipeline Industry Opposes New Rules

On April 12, the Department of Environmental Protection and others submitted comments to the Public Utility Commission recommending ways to strengthen its regulations covering the safety of natural gas and hazardous liquid pipelines. The pipeline and oil/natural gas industry and several unions submitted comments opposing the regulations saying they went impermissibly beyond federal law.
