DCNR Conservation & Natural Resources Council Meets Nov. 15 On Game Commission Collaboration; Inclusion, Diversity Initiatives; Next Gen Council

DCNR’s
Conservation & Natural Resources Advisory Council is scheduled to meet November 15 in-person and virtually to hear updates on collaborations with the Game Commission, the Next Gen Council and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging initiatives.

Bryan Burhans, Executive Director of the Game Commission, will join the Council in person to talk about issues and trends with the agency, as well as their collaboration with DCNR on projects to manage wildlife habitat.

Arlene Marshall-Hockensmith, Director, DEIB, will provide an update on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging efforts.

Ali Bowling, DCNR Policy Office/Next Gen Council Advisor, will discuss the Next Gen Council.

DCNR Secretary Cindy Adams Dunn is also scheduled to provide an update on agency activities.

Public Comments

There will be two opportunities for public comment at the meeting.  

If you are interested in presenting comments, please advise by email to abowling@pa.gov  no later than 5 p.m. on November 14.  You can provide comments at the beginning of the meeting or at the end of the meeting.  

You may also provide comments or questions after the meeting by emailing the same address or through the Council's webpage.

Carbon Sequestration Webinars

In September and October, CNRAC hosted two webinars focused on carbon sequestration, and how storing carbon both below ground in geologic formations and above ground in plants and trees will be a necessary tool in helping to mitigate climate change. 

More than 150 tuned in to the webinars to hear geologic and forestry experts discuss work being done to study and advance the work. 

Part 1 of the webinar series Below and Above, Storing Carbon in the Pennsylvania Landscape is now posted.  Part 2 will be posted in the coming weeks.

Council Annual Report

In September, CNRAC submitted its annual report as required by statute to the Governor and PA Legislature.
