Local nonprofits with a commitment to clean energy/utility efficiency can win $50,000 and media coverage through a new program from Citizens Financial Group and Trib Total Media.
Applications are open for the Champions in Action program in the category of energy efficiency/renewable energy. The deadline is August 18.
“Citizens is committed to driving positive climate impact and building a more diverse, equitable and sustainable future for all those we serve,” said Mark Rendulic, Citizens’ Pittsburgh Market President. “With the Champions in Action program, we’re able to shine a light on a variety of nonprofits doing critical work to serve the community.”
The award will go to a group which expands access to renewable energy in the communities it serves or which seeks to improve energy efficiency within its own operations through the use of solar, electric vehicles, LEED certifications or other improvements.
Eligible groups include Pittsburgh-based nonprofits that address the designated topic and also have an operating budget of $250,000 to $5 million.
The winner will receive a $50,000 contribution in unrestricted funds from Citizens and media coverage and advertising support from Trib Total Media. Volunteer support from Citizens also will be provided.
“We’re partnering with organizations to support their journey toward improving energy efficiency and ensuring access for all to clean or renewable energy,” Rendulic said.
Recipients will be announced in February.
The Champions in Action program has awarded more than $10 million in contributions and promotional support to more than 370 nonprofits across the bank’s footprint. In Pittsburgh, 53 nonprofits have been honored, receiving more than $1.5 million.
