The
Mountain Watershed Association will launch a new season of Water Guardians– a free after-school club for local children in grades K-8 designed to introduce kids to their local environment and deepen their love for and understanding of the natural world.

Water Guardians will take place on the second Thursday of each month, beginning this Thursday, September 14  and concluding on May 9, 2024.

All sessions will be held from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. at the Carnegie Free Library of Connellsville.

Sessions will explore various topics and lessons that include hands-on learning and games that feature creativity, teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Themes for lessons include native aquatic wildlife, native habitats, soil science, watersheds, water quality, outdoor recreation, and more.

The Water Guardians club is made possible due to the time and resources donated by the Carnegie Free Library of Connellsville in addition to the DEP’s 2023 Environmental Education Grant.
