PA Resources Council Announces Traveling Glass Recycling Bin Program Schedule In Allegheny County

The PA Resources Council
Traveling Glass Recycling Bin Program provides a free recycling service that rotates through a variety of locations in Allegheny County.

This innovative program provides residents with a higher quality glass recycling option than typical curbside programs, ensuring that glass deposited into the bin meets the highest standards and can be fully recycled.

PRC Traveling Glass Recycling Bin’s weeklong engagements in November 2021:

-- November 6 – 11: Round Hill Park (Allegheny County), Hereford Drive and Round Hill Road hosted by Allegheny County;

-- November 13 – 18: Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium (Allegheny County) Zoo parking lot, 7370 Baker Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15206, hosted by the Office of PA State Senator Lindsey M. Williams; and

-- November 27 – December 2: NORTH PARK (Allegheny County) Swimming Pool parking lot hosted by Allegheny County.

Last year, PRC’s glass recycling program enabled 15,000+ households in western Pennsylvania to drop off 540,000 pounds of bottles, jars and jugs for recycling.

“The bin visits various locations on a weekly basis from Saturday through Thursday, typically from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and provides residents with a safe method for recycling glass while eliminating the need to interact with other individuals or touch shared surfaces,” according to PRC Recycling Markets Program Manager Ashley DiGregorio.

Individuals can drop off glass bottles, jars and jugs of all colors (no color sorting required).  Containers should be empty and rinsed, with lids and labels still on.  Bags and boxes used to deliver glass must be discarded off-site.

PRC’s Traveling Glass Recycling Bin Program is sponsored by Owens-Illinois, Inc. and CAP Glass and is made possible through a partnership with Michael Brothers Hauling & Recycling.
