PA Solar Center, Partners Host Feb. 23 Webinar On Solar Energy For Municipalities And Water Authorities

The
Pennsylvania Solar Center will host a February 23 webinar on Solar Energy for Municipalities and Water Authorities starting at Noon.

Join the webinar to learn how municipalities and water authorities in Pennsylvania can take advantage of already existing programs to start benefiting from solar now!

Local governments and water authorities in Pennsylvania play many important roles in the growth of solar, from developing rules for where and how solar can be built, to authorizing the construction of local solar arrays, to procuring solar energy for municipal operations to save on energy costs.

With 2,560 municipalities in Pennsylvania and billions of dollars in federal grant programs and tax incentives available for solar, there's potential for all jurisdictions in Pennsylvania to take power into their own hands and reap the economic development benefits of solar.

The webinar will include experts who can discuss solar opportunities broadly so every municipality and water authority in Pennsylvania can better understand the wide scope of solar's benefits.

PennVEST will discuss a program that can support solar investments for the electricity needs of drinking water and wastewater facilities in Pennsylvania.

SolSmart, a national program supported by the U.S. Department of Energy, will discuss their no-cost technical assistance and recognition program to help local governments expand solar in their communities.

The Congress of Neighboring Communities (CONNECT) and Mt. Lebanon will provide an update on an innovative, multi-jurisdiction solar project procurement model that is supporting municipalities in Allegheny County in going solar.
