Pocono Heritage Land Trust, Marsha Hallett Partner To Protect 32 Acres In Monroe County

The
Pocono Heritage Land Trust recently announced it has partnered with landowner Marsha Hallett to place a conservation easement on 32 acres bordering Mill Creek in Barrett Township, Monroe County.

This forested property contains a scenic wetland and a tributary to Mill Creek, as well as a half mile of Mill Creek itself.

The property is privately owned and not open to the public, but Ms. Hallett graciously hosted a guided birding nature walk for Pocono Heritage Land Trust members this past August.

She noted that she plans to allow guided walks and research activity on her property in the future.

The conservation easement will ensure that the forested slopes of Ms. Hallett’s property will continue to safeguard the water quality of Mill Creek and provide quality habitat for birds and other wildlife in perpetuity.

In short, it will help keep Barrett Township as its residents all know and love it.

This project was supported through the Open Space Institute’s Delaware River Watershed Protection Fund, made possible with funding from the William Penn Foundation for its Delaware River Watershed Initiative, which seeks to protect water quality in the Delaware River Basin.
