Penn State Extension, Audubon Society Of Western PA Host Oct. 21 Backyard Stream Repair Field Day In Allegheny County; Other Extension Watershed Resources

On October 21,
Penn State Extension and the Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania will host a Backyard Stream Repair Field Day at the Beechwood Farms Nature Reserve In Allegheny County from 9:00 a.m. to Noon.

Penn State Extension’s Backyard Stream Repair Program focuses on simple, inexpensive actions that landowners can take to improve their local streams.  

The program introduces three do-it-yourself options for improving stream health, concentrating on using native plants to stabilize streambanks, slow erosion, and filter uphill runoff. 

This program includes access to the pre-recorded Backyard Stream Repair webinar series that you can view at your own pace, a copy of the companion publication, “Simple Solutions for Your Eroding Backyard Stream,” and the opportunity for hands-on learning at a field day
