Microplastics in soils: first consistent risk assessment

Microplastics in soil are extremely diverse and complex. This makes it difficult to determine the risks of plastic pollution to soil life, while there is much concern about it among policymakers and in society. Researchers from the Spanish Institute IMDEA Water and Wageningen University & Research now offer for the first time an ecological risk assessment indicating that risks are to be expected.
