Walk In Penn's Woods Day Oct. 1, Plan And Register Your Event Now!

Since 2017, the first Sunday in October-- this year October 1-- has been set aside for the public to get out into our beautiful Penn's Woods through the
Walk In Penn's Woods initiative

These walks are either hosted walks at sites with forestry, wildlife, or natural resource professionals; or are walks with nature and forest enthusiasts or are simply encouraged to get others out into the woods to experience their value.

Pennsylvania’s woods bring us a wide array of benefits—some values we see clearly; others are a little more hidden.

The trees and ground cover provide nutrients for the soil, food and homes for wildlife, clean air and water, wood products that we use in our daily lives, and peace and tranquility for us to enjoy.

Walk in Penn’s Woods raises awareness about the importance of forests to our lives and the effort that goes into caring for them.

The Walk in Penn’s Woods partnership includes the Center for Private Forests at Penn State, the PA Forestry Association, Penn State Forestry and Wildlife Extension, Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, PA Forest Stewards, the PA Chapter of the Association of Consulting Foresters, the PA Sustainable Forestry Initiative, the PA Parks and Forests Foundation, and Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful.

The Partnership hopes you will partner with us by coordinating a walk amongst your group and placing a walk on your group calendar.

Look through past walks or reach out to our partners to see if your thoughts for a walk will work (they probably will!)

Visit the Walk In Penn's Woods webpage for resources on setting up your own walk and to promote a walk you have scheduled.
