The Obama Administration finalized a similar regulation, known as the Clean Power Plan, in 2015, but red state attorneys general challenged the rule in the courts and the Trump administration ultimately withdrew the regulation.

Federal Register ESA Graduate Student Policy Award Recipients Visit Capitol Hill The 2023 Graduate Student Policy Award (GSPA) Cohort of 15 students flew in from around the country to learn about science policy and meet with lawmakers. The visits came as Congressional appropriations committees are starting work on the FY 2024 budget.

In late April, California air regulators are poised to pass one of the most meaningful regulations to reduce pollution from commercial trucks, vans, and buses. The Advanced Clean Fleets (ACF) rule, which I’ve blogged about in detail before, will phase out fossil-fueled trucks over the next several decades.

This new regulation would apply to delivery vans, big rigs, box trucks, and buses. Regulate more tractor trucks, including the smaller fleets. and NOx emissions reductions from tractor trucks while still only regulating around 13 percent of California tractor fleets.

DEP responded immediately to the well control emergency, maintained a 24/7 onsite presence for 15 days, and continued to expend significant resources to investigate and oversee remedial activities at the site throughout 2023. VOCs are a precursor to ozone, which is known to cause adverse health effects.
