In 2010, U.S. Employment in the East (basically Appalachia) fell before 2000, ticked up until 2012, and then resumed falling. By 2012 about half of 1980 employment had already been lost, nearly all in Appalachia.

Unconventional, conventional, pipeline, storage and other oil and gas facilities have been self-reporting air emissions from their facilities since 2012 and do so regularly under Title V and other Air Quality permits issued by the Department of Environmental Protection. Methane emissions were reported as 165,793.87
